Program Note

Canyon Voices is an attempt to capture in music some aspects of the Grand Canyon as I experienced them on a raft trip down the Colorado River with my son. As the river cuts ever deeper into the earth, one imagines a journey backward in geological time. This piece is just five minutes long, and I think of it as a kind of sonic postcard, if you will.
